Senior Scientist
Andrew Carr, PhD, begin his career at Acelot in 2024 as Senior Scientist. As an expert in algorithms, machine learning, and database design, Dr. Carr has a proven track record of utilizing advanced data science techniques to drive innovative therapeutic design and development. In his role at Acelot, Dr. Carr plays a pivotal role in research and development, specializing in the design and execution of experiments aimed at discovering and developing new small molecule therapeutic candidates.
Before his time at Acelot, he served as Associate Director of Data Science at Mantra Bio, where he designed and developed an AI-based platform for structural modeling, and predicting the activity of novel protein therapeutic designs. In addition, he served as a member of the Adjunct Faculty, Research and Training at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he taught PhD-level classes in relational database design, bioinformatics, and machine learning. He was also Director of Bioinformatics at Accelerated Technology Laboratories, Inc., where he was the key inventor behind the GPU accelerated genomic informatics tool suite SeqnFind(R).
Dr. Carr received his PhD in Bioinformatics from George Mason University and his BS in Mathematics and Ballet from the Indiana University Bloomington.
